This year seems to be a revolution in the fashion color schemes. The Fall of 2009 has been speculated to showcase hues more sophisticated yet less traditional; it’s the new shades of the neutrals that are been given more importance than the robust fluorescence of reds, purples, pinks and blues.

The Pantone Fashion Color Report (the most widely recognized color standard globally) for Fall 2008 provided a glimpse of a lot of things about to come, while this year, it featured the top 10 colors that are expected to rule women’s fashion. While the last year emphasized more on bridging the gap between mundane neutrals (beige and light gray were separated using lilac, purple or teal blue and so on), 2009 is going to see some warmer colors (e.g. reds, fuschia or soft pink) paired with honey-yellow, earthy orange or tangerine on metallic bases. Firstly, it’s the myth about black that we must focus upon. Despite being a versatile color that also seems to reduce an otherwise bulky figure, not all complexions are suitable for black. Black, when close to the face (and the neck) is not the best choice for pale complexions; if you have an olive skin, it shall appear sallow at best. So, replace that with charcoal (or navy) while leave being concerned about draping your bottom half in black – even for wedding ceremonies, for a taboo color is not so unless you believe it to be.

However, you cannot wear black all the time but if you are on the bulky side, you need to look slimmer. So welcome the horizontal stripes (you read it right); contrary to the popular belief, they are as effective as the narrow, vertical stripes that are considerably apart.
